For two sisters living in Los Angeles, Charlap Hyman & Herrero designed this lofty apartment with a delicate balance between industrial and lush materials. The living room is dominated by a large stainless steel vertical fireplace, which conceals a TV, and is shielded from the cream colored kitchen by metal-mesh louvered panels that can be rotated as the residents wish. A loft above with metal-mesh railings that double as bookcases, inspired by those at Maison de Verre, serves as library, work room, and dining room. With mismatched twin bathrooms in pink and in green, respectively, the sisters’ worlds diverge, and their bedrooms are each unique.
